Summary

The last girl went missing…
Someone doesn’t want her to be found。

When Sloane takes a job at the infamous whitewater rafting camp, Widow Falls, she quickly learns that the camp has a reputation for more than just summer fun。

People go missing at Widow Falls。

The guide she’s replacing was just one of many。 As Sloane settles into her new home—a one-room apartment she’ll be sharing with the five other guides—she can’t help asking questions and digging into the disappearances she’s heard about。 Her new roommates tell her stories of dark legends and dangerous folklore surrounding the secluded camp but assure her there’s nothing to worry about。 It’s all just superstition。

When Sloane stumbles upon a clue and a secret message hidden beneath the floorboards of their loft, she begins to realize there may be more to the myths than she’s been told。

The message gets her attention: Don’t trust anyone at Widow Falls。

As she follows clues to better understand the missing guide she replaced, Sloane can’t help noticing the similarities between the two of them。

What happened to the other girl?
Why won’t the others help her search?
Are they all in danger?

Whatever’s happening at Widow Falls, it’s clear someone doesn’t want her digging into it。 As the seams of her reality are torn apart, making her question everything she sees, feels, and believes, Sloane will have to uncover the truth about the camp—and its occupants—before someone else goes missing。

Because this time…it might be her。

Wow this author is quickly becoming a favorite。 While this one wasn't as good as some of the others I read I still really enjoyed this story。 It was mysterious without being to vague。 I loved most of the characters。 Some of them I wasn't the biggest fan of some of them but they didn't take me away from the story。 I will continue to read from this author。 Wow this author is quickly becoming a favorite。 While this one wasn't as good as some of the others I read I still really enjoyed this story。 It was mysterious without being to vague。 I loved most of the characters。 Some of them I wasn't the biggest fan of some of them but they didn't take me away from the story。 I will continue to read from this author。 。。。more

DNF at a little over halfway through。 Could not get on board with this Mary Sue heroine who wanders cluelessly through the chapters of Widow Falls。 Seriously, in the study alone with her employer: “He poured four drinks。 Why??” Oh, honey。 No, of course no normal female human would just naturally assume the drinks mean there are more people coming; she would of course arrive at that (and every) conclusion very, very, VERY slowly。 Sorry if my annoyance is showing, but a book rated 4-point-somethin DNF at a little over halfway through。 Could not get on board with this Mary Sue heroine who wanders cluelessly through the chapters of Widow Falls。 Seriously, in the study alone with her employer: “He poured four drinks。 Why??” Oh, honey。 No, of course no normal female human would just naturally assume the drinks mean there are more people coming; she would of course arrive at that (and every) conclusion very, very, VERY slowly。 Sorry if my annoyance is showing, but a book rated 4-point-something on here should just be better than this。 Not a bad concept, but the execution needed at least one more edit。 2/5。 I wanted to like this book! As Sloane reads more of Landry’s journal and compares it with the versions of “truth” given by her guide-mates, and things don’t add up。I felt drawn in as if Sloane was telling her story directly to me, her discomfort in the living/working situation and immediate suspicions gave an edge to her story right away。 Short, suspenseful chapters made it imperative to get through the story to find out what the heck was going on。 I will say that after the buildup finding out what was going on was a bit of a letdown, and the ending was a little odd and confusing。 Still, Widow Falls was a fast, entertaining listen。 I thought Jess Nahikian did a nice job conveying Sloane's distress and she did a wonderful job with both the male and female voices。 A copy was kindly provided by Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Sloane starts at a white water rafting company mid season and finds it hard to fit in。 She discovers that the girl that had the position before her disappeared。 As she starts to piece together what happened to her, she isn’t sure how concerned she should be。This is the third Kiersten Modglin book I’ve read and what I like most about her books is the twists have twists up until the very last word。 I’m never sure who is reliable and what will happen next。 And I usually find in the twisty thriller Sloane starts at a white water rafting company mid season and finds it hard to fit in。 She discovers that the girl that had the position before her disappeared。 As she starts to piece together what happened to her, she isn’t sure how concerned she should be。This is the third Kiersten Modglin book I’ve read and what I like most about her books is the twists have twists up until the very last word。 I’m never sure who is reliable and what will happen next。 And I usually find in the twisty thriller world that authors use similar plots that could become predictable, but all three of the books I’ve read/listened to have been unique。 While the cast of characters are young, it doesn’t define them。 And I connected with Sloane and rooted for her to figure things out and end up safe。Jess Nahikian does a fabulous job narrating the audiobook。 I couldn't wait until I had time to listen to the book。If you like fast paced, unpredictable thrillers, I’d give this one a shot。 。。。more

A camp where you have to sign a two year contract to work based on the training you get。 Seems legit to this main character。 After all。 She just needs out of her current life situation。 Yet when she finds the journal of the missing person she is replacing and then starts to hear the stories of the missing people in the woods she starts to realize maybe this job was too good to be true - on paper。 Definitely a page turner。 The end was a little predictable, saw it coming。 I received an advance rev A camp where you have to sign a two year contract to work based on the training you get。 Seems legit to this main character。 After all。 She just needs out of her current life situation。 Yet when she finds the journal of the missing person she is replacing and then starts to hear the stories of the missing people in the woods she starts to realize maybe this job was too good to be true - on paper。 Definitely a page turner。 The end was a little predictable, saw it coming。 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。 。。。more

Are you kidding me? Listening to the audiobook, I was able to increase the speed of the narrator and enjoy the production。 There was creepy and a few eye rolls however I'm engaged and following along。 After a bit the actions and characters appear juvenile。 I think this is a young adult book。 And until late in the book when the author checked off what is apparently obligatory swearing, I was enjoying the light thriller。 I'm just able to shake my head。 The author is closing the story。 There aren't Are you kidding me? Sloane begins a new job at Widow Falls, a whitewater rafting camp and moves in with five coworkers。 It turns out, people go missing from Widow Falls and Sloane wants to get to the bottom of it。 This was such an enjoyable read, it had me guessing, literally until the very end! I would definitely recommend this book。

I guessed the motive behind the missing people about halfway in the book that didn’t ruin it for me。 The plot was well done and very exciting。 The diary was my favorite part of this book。 The tale was told from Sloan’s point of view。 However, the ending was a disappointment。 I was expecting an ending that would leave me gasping but I didn’t get it。 。。。more

Widow Falls by Kiersten Modglin is a cascading twisty thriller which is what I have come to expect from one of my favorite dependable authors。Sloane has taken a job as a guide at an infamous whitewater rafting camp signing a two year contract。 Why is it infamous? I’ve read a good bit of this authors books and I have to say, all of them have been very decent。This is another good thriller that moves quickly & keeps you guessing。 She’s the master of tricks & turns and this one is no different。 I figured out the premise behind it pretty early on, but as others have mentioned the ending to this one is wild and unpredictable。3。5/5 stars for me

What could possibly go wrong at a remote whitewater-rafting camp? Why should Sloane be nervous when the camp is infamous for the haunting tales and many people who have gone missing?
